Epiphany Practica

We invite dancers of all levels for an ongoing series of tango classes covering what we consider to be the crucial elements of the dance — freedom to move, elasticity, connection, and play, also axis, pivots, crosses, and more.

People new to tango can start dancing immediately. More experienced dancers will gain greater facility and improved freedom of expression. The classes are progressive, presenting core concepts of our method, but everyone should feel free to attend any class.

Tabor Bread will be open for business during the event, selling great bread and other light fare, as well as beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages.

Dancers of all levels are welcome with or without a partner. Please bring comfortable non-marking shoes to dance in.

GNOMES on TABOR

Tabor Bread will be open for extended hours Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Happy Hour until 6:00pm! We are excited to announce a collaboration with Brewed By Gnomes which we will be featured alongside our curation of small plates such as an Olympia Provisions charcuterie board, curried cauliflower salad, truffled hazelnuts, and the like.

Brewed by Gnomes is a unique brewery offering Herbal Organic brews such as 'Leepa' - a Linden Flower Lager, 'Hawt of Darkness' - a dark Hawthorne berry Belgian ale, as well as a herbal-hopped 'Gnomebucha'. These beers are specially crafted with occasionally foraged botanicals that enhance the flavor of already beautifully balanced brews.

Bread and Pastries, as well as our current bottled selections still available.

Come take a walk on the Gnomey side with Tabor Bread this Solstice.

Tango La Leña

Come celebrate the beginning of your weekend! Join us for Tango La Leña at Tabor Bread from 5 pm - 8 pm.  Matthew Miller and Dessa Bingley will offer a beginner lesson at 5 pm and Matthew will DJ the dancing from 6 to 8pm. The Tango Lesson will be on “images and play this time, the better half of the method. It should be a really fun, high-energy class!”  Bring your friends and dancing shoes. Beverages for purchase. Small snacks provided. Event Organizer:  Nancy Good (nancygood1@gmail.com)

About Dessa and Matthew:

Dessa Bingley began dancing tango in 2011 while studying at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. Her extensive knowledge of physiology and body mechanics inform both her acupuncture practice and her tango teaching, but she always comes back to an emphasis on self-expression and connection.

Matthew Miller started dancing in 2007, moved to Buenos Aires in 2012, and spent three years there dancing tango full time. He has also studied ballet, modern dance, movement anatomy, and improvisation. As a teacher, he uses metaphor to illuminate concepts and expand possibility in the dance.

Together Matthew and Dessa have developed a teaching method that uses play and imagery to encourage organic movement and creative freedom for both partners. Contact Matthew and Dessa with questions about lessons at mm4587@gmail.com 503-847-7258 (Matthew) and dbingley@gmail.com 917-843-2256 (Dessa).

Sourdough 101

Are you curious about sourdough bread baking? Do you love our bread and want to learn more about it? Would you like to connect with other bakers in your community and share your passion for this artisan process? Whether you’re new to baking and need an introduction, or are already baking your own bread at home and have specific questions, this class will give you a comprehensive overlook at home bread baking. We’ll cover the whole baking process, from using your natural starters, to a tried and true cast-iron skillet baking method, with a focus on the community aspect of bread making. At the end of class we’ll enjoy our fresh from the oven loaves with some delicious accoutrements--bring your appetite! You’ll go home with the dough we mix in class (which you will be able to bake at home!), your own sourdough starter for future projects, and a network of bakers to connect with. Join us for a Tabor Breaducation experience and let’s become better bakers together!
